太極拳!
This is one of the main special points about ren gon hu (人工湖), a statue doing taijiquan(太極拳), a kind of traditional Chinese shadow boxing. This is supposedly one of the works by 朱銘爺爺, a famous artist skilled around the areas of making statues.
The stance of the statue is called the 單鞭下勢. The statue is simple, yet it is complex in another way. Infront of it are two of my friends trying to imitate it. Aren't they cool?
Actually, on the platform the statue is placed on, there are lights that I suppose would light up at night so that people would see the statue at night. Maybe the statue would be even more intimidating with lights under it at night, showing the expressionless face and scary posture.
the lake
Here is a nice view of the lake. I was standing on a bridge that connects the park to a little island in the middle where you can sit under the trees and just relax. There is also a little cement dock that i do not know what its purpose is for, but i have seen people playing RC model boats there as it is the only place that you can actually touch the water of the lake.
On the right side you can see some structures with white walls. These are like walkways that lead you through the park. There are red-rimmed gaps in the walls that allow a person to walk through, and in some of the structures there are ponds with lilies on them. Occasionally a fish might be seen swimming in the pond.
The white protection things in front of me seem to have traditional Chinese decorations. I don't think this is really good for protection as little kids could easily climb over the gaps between parts and fall into the muddy waters below.
far into the distance are residential houses beside the lake. How lucky they are to have such a great view of the lake everyday, or at least i think they do...
the big ol' tree (2)
Here is the picture of the same tree taken at a diffent side. The lake is now included in the picture, also some happy students doing jumps in the back ground. The picture was taken around the same time as the previous one, but as it was a rainy day, the lighting effect was not so good as it was on the other one.
This tree was special to me as I had fun running around it when i was little. I also had many walks in this park, and it changed alot just in the 4-year period when i was not in taiwan.

the big ol' tree
This is a photo taken near the entrance of a nearby park at my school. It is one of the largest trees I've seen there ever since the first time i went to this park. You can see it just going into the park from the entrance. I took the picture at the wrong side of the park. The lighting from the sun signifies the cool green color from the leaves on this tree. This picture was taken around the afternoon.
